We only use Sunflower Lecithin: The World’s Greatest Brain Food Supplement!
What Is Lecithin? Lecithin is a yellowy-brown fat that takes up a third of the matter in our brain. This fact applies to all mammals. Lecithin holds choline, a vital neurotransmitter phospholipid that’s involved in thousands of processes in our body each and every day including concentration, dexterity, bodily movements – even urination and bowel movements!
The vast majority of lecithin use centers around its unique ability of being an excellent emulsifier. We all know that oil and water don’t mix, right?
When oil and water are mixed, the two are placed into a solution and shaken together, the oil droplets initially spread out and appear to evenly disperse. Once the shaking stops, the oil separates from the water again. This is why lecithin is so important.
When lecithin is added to the equation, oil is broken down in smaller particles in a process called emulsification making the oil droplets easier to blend and then digest when consumed.
This is one of the reasons why lecithin is used as an additive in processed foods, medicines and supplements; it helps give these products a smooth, uniform appearance. Additionally, its ability to emulsify fats makes it an ideal ingredient in protein supplements.
As you’ll soon learn, there are several benefits to consuming the right kind of lecithin supplement including heart health, anti-aging, speedier healing of wounds, sleep quality, and more.
Soy Lecithin vs Sunflower Lecithin
At first it might seem like the better deal, as sunflower lecithin does cost quite a bit more per container. However, it’s important to understand why the sunflower variety costs more.
First, sunflowers in general cost more to produce and the yield from each plant is very little. The flowers take up more space and require more attention while they’re growing. Soy, on the other hand, costs very little to produce, requires no babysitting while it grows, and tons of soybeans can be produced in a relatively small area.
Second, lecithin can be extracted from soybeans quite cheaply, unfortunately by using the dangerous cancer-causing chemicals acetone and hexane. This is because soy lecithin is a common ingredient in chocolate bars, creams, protein shakes, and sauces, and manufacturers spare themselves the expense of cold-pressing (a safe way to extract lecithin) to make larger profits.
Sunflower lecithin is made solely as a health supplement and is always raw & cold-pressed, without the use of dangerous chemicals.
10 Benefits of Consuming Sunflower Lecithin
Healthier Brain: Sunflower lecithin is loaded with phospholipids. Namely, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylcholine. Each are major ingredients the body uses to create, repair, and strengthen brain and nerve cells. People who suffer from degenerative brain disorders like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s have shown significant improvements to their conditions when a daily dose of sunflower lecithin is administered.
Cholesterol Lowering (Linoleic Acid): Since lecithin is a fat emulsifier, it’s a vital component used by the body to remove excess fats from the bloodstream, including triglycerides and free cholesterol. Linoleic acid is the main ingredient found in sunflower lecithin that helps the liver to accomplish this task. The only other lecithin-containing plant that contains as much linoleic acid in it is olive oil. Soy lecithin contains very small amounts.
Liver Repair: When the liver gets over-loaded with excess lipids (fats), they start to accumulate inside the organ rather than being eliminated through the bowels as they’re supposed to. This condition is known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and it’s a growing epidemic that causes type-II diabetes, cirrhosis, and even liver cancer. The phospholipids in sunflower lecithin help to keep the liver clear of these excess fats and thus, work more efficiently.
Estrogen Free: Soy lecithin has been used for years an emulsifier for chocolates, baked goods, and butter. A couple of decades ago, science discovered that soy products contain phytoestrogens. These phytoestrogens cause men and women to produce estrogen which causes metabolic problems, sexual dysfunction, early menopause, weight gain, breast growth (in men and women) and autoimmune disorders of the thyroid and adrenal glands. Sunflower lecithin contains no phytoestrogens whatsoever.
Powerful Antioxidant: Sunflower lecithin contains one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, called phosphatidylcholine. This antioxidant prevents free radicals from destroying the cells in our bodies. The oxidative damage done by free radicals causes premature aging and cancer throughout the body.
Faster Healing: The linoleic and other oleic acids in sunflower lecithin helps speed the release of inflammatory transmitters (cytokines) to the injured areas of our body. To achieve this benefit on external wounds, apply lecithin straight to the affected area.
Nervous System Health: The abundance of fatty acids found in sunflower lecithin help to strengthen nerve tissues and increase neurotransmitter activity. Nerve fibers are made up of myelin sheaths. These sheaths are like a complex information railroad that allows nerve impulses to travel to their destination. When they’re disrupted the nervous system is thrown out of balance.
Lowers Blood Pressure: As you’ve learned already, linoleic acid is an emulsifier that works to break down fats of all kinds in the body, including excess triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood. When levels of either are too high, they accumulate on the walls of our arteries causing arteriosclerosis (i.e., thickening of the walls of the arteries) which leads to high blood pressure and eventually heart attacks and strokes.
Sleep Quality: Sunflower lecithin has more choline than almost any other plant or animal food source found in nature. Choline is converted to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, which many people around the world are deficient in because of their processed food diets.
Arthritis: Lecithin is the fatty, viscous fluid that sits between and lubricates every joint in our body. Without adequate intake of lecithin, joints become stiff which eventually leads to permanent joint problems and diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. Consuming sunflower lecithin daily can help ease the symptoms of joint disease too.
Never use products that contain soy lecithin as it is very dangerous and could have a serious effect on your health and well-being. It may be cheaper, but is it worth the risk?
We at VitaSupreme NEVER USE SOY LECITHIN in our products and never have. We only use only the highest quality ingredients, including the highly beneficial ingredient sunflower lecithin in our VitaWhey Protein.
The Many Amazing Whey Protein Benefits
There are so many amazing whey protein benefits! Whether you are a competitive body builder or a mother of three, looking to get back in shape or just want to live a long healthy happy life, whey protein is certainly what you need to support your body in reaching its maximum potential.
And if you want to burn fat, curb cravings, build lean muscle, increase energy, boost your immune system and prevent disease, then look no further.
Whey protein has been proven in many medical studies to improve weight loss, increase energy and even naturally boost your body’s most powerful antioxidant: glutathione.
Whey provides you with a more absorbable source of protein than any other type of food or supplement and is easy to digest for most men, women and children, which is why whey is the most popular protein supplement today, and for good reason.
According to a recent study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, whey protein is the ideal supplement to build muscle and increase metabolism.
Whey proteins are the globular proteins derived as a by-product of cheese production. The term “whey” refers to a complex substance made up of a combination of protein, lactose, minerals, immunoglobulins, and trace amounts of fat. It is primarily the protein that makes it a superfood for fat loss.
This whey protein is dried and sold in powder form and is easily reconstituted by adding liquid.
7 Amazing Whey Protein Benefits
Increases Strength and Builds Muscle: A recent 10-week study showed that whey protein boosts both muscle mass and strength. The researchers split 19 men into two groups and gave each of them whey protein, casein and amino acids, then gave the other group a placebo. The men who took the whey protein combination gained body mass, muscle mass and body strength. They also found that it increased protein synthesis and improved muscle performance! Studies carried out by Laurentian University Ontario concluded that “protein supplementation during resistance training, independent of source, increased lean tissue mass and strength over placebo and resistance training”. Whey protein is the most efficient way to add protein to the diet without extra calories from carbohydrates or fat. Whey protein typically contains 90% protein which is higher compared to lean red meat, chicken, fish, eggs or cheese. It provides the body with what it needs to build muscle, strength and to recover quickly after a workout.
Reduces Cravings: Ghrelin and Leptin are the two hormones that help to regulate appetite. Leptin is a hormone, made by fat cells, that decreases your appetite. Ghrelin is a hormone that increases appetite, and also plays a role in body weight. Whey protein seems to affect these two hormones and causes them to balance out and decrease hunger cravings.
In a double-blind study in Australia, it was discovered that the subjects had less ghrelin in their system after taking whey protein than when drinking the glucose, fructose and combination drinks that were used. Also, whey protein really works to diminish cravings without spiking blood sugar.
Burns Fat – Lose Weight!: Whey protein burns fat! In a Paris study, French scientists studied animals that exercised for two hours daily for more than five weeks. One group of the animals exercised in the fasting state while the others had sugar, whole milk, or whey protein. The group that fasted lost muscle during their workout. The group that consumed sugar, burned sugar during their workouts, but burned very little fat. The group that consumed whole milk did see improvements in muscle mass but also gained some body fat.
But the group that supplemented with whey protein saw both a decrease in body fat and an increase in muscle!
The researchers concluded that whey’s ability to rapidly deliver amino acids during exercise explain its superiority to other foods consumed post workout.
Improves Blood Sugar & Improves Energy: Whey stabilizes blood sugar when taken with a high glycemic index meal. It stimulates the production of insulin, and prevents dramatic spikes in blood sugar. Whey protein also increases glycogen, which is the source of energy during exercising or heavy activity. Plus, whey protein enhances the effect of leptin, the hormone affecting energy balance. The protein of whey is easily digested and accessed by the body to convert into energy.
Boosts Glutathione: Whey protein helps increase the production of glutathione which is the “master antioxidant.” It is found in every cell in your body and helps eliminate free radicals, which are the reactive oxidants that cause cell damage. These particles usually occur naturally during the metabolism of energy in the mitochondrial process. However, when the body is taxed from toxic exposure, heavy metals, or disease, then the level of free radicals increases. Taking whey protein helps to fight free radicals and disease. Glutathione has been studied to prevent cancer and fight aging diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Extends Lifespan: Whey protein has been found to actually increase life span. In a recent study where they supplemented middle aged mice with whey protein it increased the average lifespan by 12%.
That is like adding 10 years to your life: Whey reduces muscle wasting associated with aging, and increases nutrient absorption without increasing hunger. As we age we lose bone mass, cell function and our quality of digestion decreases. Whey protein has been shown to reduce the loss in all of these areas, making it one of the most powerful super foods on earth!
Boosts Immunity: Whey protein boosts your immune system! Glutathione also boosts the effectiveness of all the other antioxidants like Vitamin C, Coenzyme Q10, ALA and Vitamin E. It helps heal the effect of environmental and dietary toxins. Due to the high levels of glutathione, whey protein is an ideal choice to fight illness and disease on a cellular level!
